John Duthie

John Duthie has been in the financial planning industry since 1979. Testament to his experience and expertise is the incredible growth and success of the Banks Group financial planning division. What John began as a one-man operation with just one computer in 1994 has developed into a five employee-strong team managing about 60 million dollars of investments.
Beginning in the days when financial planners were known as ‘Investment Advisers’ John has acquired immeasurable long-term knowledge of an industry that has seen many significant changes. Initially much of his work involved helping retirees who sought age pension benefits. After the introduction of the ‘Assets Test’ in 1983, he experienced the industry’s shift to concentrating on investment advice.
Formerly as a National Business Development Manager, responsible for training more than 100 representatives of Beyson Investment Services, he was involved in the development of the ‘Managed Portfolio Service’ which became the foundation of today’s commonly used systems (platforms), ‘Master Trusts’ and ‘Wraps.’ John is a pioneer of the financial planning industry. His knowledge is reflected in his results and high status he enjoys in his industry.
John has an interest in politics and all things sport – from football to golf. He has four grandchildren who also take up lots of his time.
